Why is my under counter freezer not cold enough?

The under-counter freezers are often so reliable that when they fail, we actually have a hard time believing it. You are confused about this, why is my under-counter freezer cold enough? How should we find out the cause of the failure of the underfloor freezer?

Why is my under-counter freezer not cold?

1.      Check the compressor. Once you are sure that this is not your imagination, and the temperature of the under counter freezer is not cold enough, do not stand with the door open and scratch your head. Also don't lower the temperature knob completely, because that might make the problem worse. The first thing to do is make sure the compressor is on. If the device is buzzing as usual, it may be turned on.

2.      Check freezer air circulation. Next, make sure the under counter freezer is not overloaded and the evaporator fan is blowing air through the freezer. Air needs to circulate inside the compartment, and filling the compartment can cause problems. Then, make sure there is space for air circulation on the outside of the device, leaving at least 1 inch of space on the back and at least a few inches of space on the top. Finally, plan to prepare something frozen for dinner just in case things don't go as expected.

3.      Check for frost. Next, check for frost. On an automatic defrost unit, you can't determine if the evaporator coil is frosting, but if you see frost on the wall of the freezer compartment, the coil may be clogged with frost, limiting the airflow to cool the freezer. On a manual defrost device, you may see so much frost that you realize why the freezer space is constantly decreasing.

4.      Defrosting a manual device may solve your problem. With an automatic defrost device, manual defrost can help you diagnose the cause and may make things happen again, but you may need one or two new parts to fix it permanently.

How to defrost the under counter freezer?

1.      Move everything worth saving to a neighbor's freezer or picnic cooler with an ice pack (eat or tilt the rest). In the case of a freezer / under-counter freezer, everything in the under-counter freezer must also be moved, as the cold air comes only from the freezer. If your under-counter freezer is full of frost, the air inlets of the under-counter freezer may freeze and block.

2.      Put a pile of towels under the device (even on automatic defrost models to prevent water spray).

3.      Turn off the device.

4.      Place a bowl or other container with hot water in the under-counter freezer to speed up defrost and close the door. Hot water needs to be changed every hour.

5.      Resist the temptation and use a knife to remove the frost; you can easily damage the under counter freezer.

6.      When the ice melts and spreads, use your (gloved) hands to remove the large pieces and use a plastic spatula to help a little when needed.

7.      When all the ice cubes are gone, dry the inside of the under-counter freezer with a towel. Zh

8.      Turn the device back on to the normal temperature setting.

9.      If the freezer is automatically defrosted and returned to normal cold conditions, it may be a defrost timer, a defrost heater or a defrost thermostat. Leakage in the refrigerant lines is also extremely unlikely. It's time to call a maintenance specialist to fix the problem.

How to keep the underfloor freezer tidy?

Remove bulky food from the cooling unit. When operating an under-counter freezer or freezer, place your hands inside to find the source of cold air. This usually runs along the back wall of the device. If the area is blocked by a dense array of food, move it away. Leave some open space around the cooling unit so that air can flow around. Do not block any ventilation holes with bulky freezer boxes or bags. Keep these items away from the sides and walls of the device. Avoid filling the under-counter freezer and freezer. Overcrowded appliances will restrict airflow and may trap cold air in some pockets, which may cause frosting. Store items in designated drawers and locations, put fruits in crispy drawers, meat in meat drawers, butter in butter trays, and condiments in narrow shelves in the door. Use the under-counter freezer organizer and trash can to keep your equipment organized and tidy. Take a few minutes a week to check for used or expired items in the under-counter freezer. Throw them away once they are spoiled to make room for fresh food.

Clean the ventilation holes every 6 months to ensure proper air circulation. Ventilation holes are dirty, and blockages can cause airflow problems and icing. Twice a year, unscrew the vents from inside the under-counter freezer. Use a hard-bristled brush, warm water, and neutral detergent to remove dust, dirt, and food debris. Replace completely after drying. Before removing the vents, turn off the device and transfer perishable food to the cooler.

Wash the inside of the under-counter freezer approximately twice a year. Before cleaning the under-counter freezer, remove all items from the under-counter freezer and temporarily store perishable items in the cooler. Use a dry paper towel to remove any debris and food residue. Next, wipe the shelf and the inside with a warm soapy cloth. Dry all surfaces before returning all food. If you find any spills or debris, wipe them off as soon as possible to avoid the formation of ice crystals. Clean the condenser coil on the back of the under-counter freezer twice a year. Close the under-counter freezer and store perishable items in the cooler. Pull the device far enough away from the wall so that you can easily retrieve the back. Use a soft-bristle brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the coil. Then, put the underfloor freezer back in place.

Eliminate icing. Set the temperature of the under-counter freezer to 37 to 40 ° F (3 to 4 ° C) and the temperature of the under-counter freezer to 0 ° F (−18 ° C). Adjust the turntable inside the device to make each part consistent at these temperatures. This way, your food will be stored safely and you won't encourage ice accretion in the under-counter freezer. Avoid setting the under-counter freezer to any cooler setting as this may increase frost. Use a device thermometer to check the temperature inside the under-freezer and freezer. Melt ice crystals with hot water and a cleaning cloth. Dampen a cleaning cloth or sponge with hot water. Place the damp cloth directly on top of icing or frosting. Gently press down to heat the ice cube below. If the cloth starts to cool, immerse it in more hot water and reapply it on the cream. Continue this process until the cream has completely melted. Before closing the under-counter freezer, use a paper towel or dry-cleaning cloth to absorb moisture.
